"The Air Car caused a huge stir when we reported last year that Tata Motors would begin producing it in India. Now the little gas-free ride that could is headed Stateside in a big-time way.

Zero Pollution Motors (ZPM) confirmed to PopularMechanics.com on Thursday that it expects to produce the world’s first air-powered car for the United States by late 2009 or early 2010. As the U.S. licensee for Luxembourg-based MDI, which developed the Air Car as a compression-based alternative to the internal combustion engine, ZPM has attained rights to build the first of several modular plants, which are likely to begin manufacturing in the Northeast and grow for regional production around the country, at a clip of up to 10,000 Air Cars per year.

And while ZPM is also licensed to build MDI’s two-seater OneCAT economy model (the one headed for India) and three-seat MiniCAT (like a SmartForTwo without the gas), the New Paltz, N.Y., startup is aiming bigger: Company officials want to make the first air-powered car to hit U.S. roads a $17,800, 75-hp equivalent, six-seat modified version of MDI’s CityCAT (pictured above) that, thanks to an even more radical engine, is said to travel as far as 1000 miles at up to 96 mph with each tiny fill-up.

We’ll believe that when we drive it, but MDI’s new dual-energy engine—currently being installed in models at MDI facilities overseas—is still pretty damn cool in concept. After using compressed air fed from the same Airbus-built tanks in earlier models to run its pistons, the next-gen Air Car has a supplemental energy source to kick in north of 35 mph, ZPM says. A custom heating chamber heats the air in a process officials refused to elaborate upon, though they insisted it would increase volume and thus the car’s range and speed.

“I want to stress that these are estimates, and that we’ll know soon more precisely from our engineers,” ZPM spokesman Kevin Haydon told PM, “but a vehicle with one tank of air and, say, 8 gal. of either conventional petrol, ethanol or biofuel could hit between 800 and 1000 miles.”

Those figures would make the Air Car, along with Aptera’s Typ-1 and Tesla’s Roadster, a favorite among early entrants for the Automotive X Prize, for which MDI and ZPM have already signed up. But with the family-size, four-door CityCAT undergoing standard safety tests in Europe, then side-impact tests once it arrives in the States, could it be the first 100-mpg, nonelectric car you can actually buy?"

before i die...

I definatly have a list of band that i want to see before i die. When i was younger i had tons, but luckily i was able to see most of them. The Misfits, AFI, 311, Bad Religion, Tiger Army, Rancid, They Might Be Giants, etc. All of which were on the list at some point, and was able to check off my list. There is not much left on my list of bands that i need to see before i die.

Here is the only 2 that i can think of.

1. Apoptygma Berzerk

These guys are beyond amazing. I first got into them in high school, AFI introduced me to them and have been hooked ever since. They are Synthpop/FuturePop. They are from Norway and dont tour the US much. They have an amazing live show, and im excited to see them when they come around.

They rock my world, they are from England. They have intense live shows. They are epic. I almost saw them about a year ago but something came up and missed the chance.

Buzz Lightyear

So we just got back from the old last minute California trip to go to Disneyland / California Adventure.

They have a ride/game called Buzz Lightyear Astro blasters (or something along those lines). Its basically a ride where you get in a moving cart thing and it takes you through a track the you have lazer guns that you shoot at various moving targets for points. like this...

Since it first opened at Disneyland, i always owned Beka when we would play. Yet she would always talk so much smack before hand.

But this summer we went to Florida and went to Disney World which they had the Buzz ride but it was super lame. the guns sucked, the gun was attached to the cart, you could only shoot the lazer like once every 5 seconds. It was straight up stupid!
Some how Beka beat me at Disney World, and of course i never heard the end of it. Shes been talking smack since july about how she is excited to beat me again, and so on.

They come yeaterday. We got fast passes to Space Mountain, then we on the Buzz ride. It was on, the smack talking continued thoughout the waiting line even when we go in the cart. Needless to say 5 minutes later we looked down at the scores and Beka's side said.....25,000 points. then over to mine was.....145,000! a spanking to say the least. Dont think i didnt hear the "my gun was broken" for a couple of hours.

So for Christmas i got a Nordstoms gift card, i was way excited. Its definatly not the regular Nordstoms that i shop at, its definatly Nordstrom's Rack.

I buy shoes, i guess thats my thing, i have way more shoes than Beka and she always makes fun of me for it. There is nothing that i would like better than to go buy a new pair of shoes ANYTIME! Some call it gay, i call it a fabulous time.

My thing about shoes is, beka says that most of my shoes are too "flashy". But to me the flashier the better. The thing is that i wear a lot of black and grey clothes, thats just what i like. So i like my shoes to get attention, my feet are basically attention whores. When people glance at my shoes, i dont want them to look away and not notice them, i want them to say "dang, whats with that guys shoes?" whether they think they are hideous or cool, i dont care. I dont live my life obeying the opinions of others.

So with my gift card i stumbled upon some Ed Hardys , Ed Hardy is a clothing company by Christian Audigier who makes shirts, jeans, shoes, etc. His shoes have tatoo-esqe, graphics on them that are amazing! I dig the look and they are a billion different designs. This is the first one i bought..

Toys that i rocked when i was a lil' guy....

Roller Racers were amazing! until my brother hit a big crack in the pavement, flew off it and busted his chin open and had to get stiches. After that i was too scared to get back on it.


Teddy "i will murder you in your sleep" Ruxpin, was more something i feared more than i miss.


My brother and i had this whole set plus a bunch more. The big Thundercat castle thing shot a lazer light out of its mouth and MAN was it awesome.

FOXY!!

So the band i've been rockin lately is Foxy Shazam!

They are amazing! Crazy to say the least. They are unique, James Brown meets HORSE the band, but less metal. Hahaha! they rock my world. Better than any mainstream crap out there now.

Im excited to see them in March here in AZ!
